That’s why we’re excited to introduce Holly Crawford, our CART Lead.
Holly brings industry experience, knowledge, and a strong understanding of what goes into coordinating quality CART services. As our CART services continue to grow, having a dedicated person overseeing this area allows us to provide an even stronger experience for our customers, consumers, and CART providers.
What Is CART?
Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) provides real-time, word-for-word access to spoken communication through text.
Using specialized technology, a trained CART provider converts spoken words into text almost instantaneously, allowing the consumer to follow the conversation as it happens.
CART can be provided onsite or remotely and can support communication access in a variety of environments, including:
- Colleges and universities
- Workplace meetings and trainings
- Conferences and large events
- Healthcare settings
- Government meetings
- Webinars and virtual events
- Community programs
CART isn’t simply a transcript provided after an event. The value is in having access to the conversation as it is happening.
Why Dedicated CART Leadership Matters
CART has its own terminology, technology, provider qualifications, scheduling considerations, and best practices.
It deserves dedicated attention.
With Holly serving as our CART Lead, our customers have someone on the SOS team who understands the industry and the service being coordinated.
She can help our team navigate provider matching, remote and onsite logistics, preparation materials, technical considerations, and the details that can make the difference between simply having a provider present and delivering a smooth communication-access experience.
For our CART providers, dedicated leadership also means having someone who understands their work and the unique requirements that come with providing realtime access.
Meet Holly Crawford
Holly brings CART experience and industry knowledge directly to our team.
As CART Lead, she helps oversee our CART services, supports coordination and provider relationships, and serves as an internal resource as we continue strengthening and expanding this area of The SOS Agency.
Having someone dedicated to CART means our customers aren’t simply submitting a request into a general scheduling system.
There is a knowledgeable person behind the service.
Someone who understands what is being requested.
Someone who understands the professionals providing it.
And someone focused on helping all of those pieces come together.
CART Can Be an Excellent Communication Access Option
Communication access isn’t one-size-fits-all.
For some individuals, ASL interpreting is the appropriate accommodation. For others, CART may provide the most effective access. Some environments may even benefit from offering multiple forms of communication access.
The important thing is listening to the person receiving the accommodation and providing the service that meets their communication needs.
If you’re unsure whether CART is appropriate for your classroom, workplace, conference, meeting, or event, our team can help you better understand the service and what may be needed.
We’re Investing in CART
Adding dedicated CART leadership represents something important for us: we’re investing in this service.
As demand for realtime communication access continues to grow, we want our infrastructure, knowledge, and provider network to grow with it.
We’re excited to have Holly leading that work.
Whether you have been requesting CART services for years or you’re submitting your very first CART request, you’ll have a team—and a dedicated CART Lead—working behind the scenes to help make the experience as seamless as possible.
Welcome, Holly. We’re excited about what’s ahead.
Because everyone deserves the whole conversation.
